Today, I'm home from school because apparently having shingles at twenty-four is a thing that can happen when you have MS. Hoorah for immunodeficiency. So, I decided to take it upon myself and actually finish this blog post that I started a few weeks ago. Hope you enjoy! If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I recently quit my job in order to become a full-time student and finally finish college. It's been slightly stressful for obvious reasons, but I actually find the free time exactly what I've needed mentally. I've always loved reading, being one of those kids that always had their nose in this book or that one, but as an adult, I found it more difficult to set aside some time to dedicate to reading. Since late August, I've read four novels and I've just started on my fifth. I know this is a dedicated nail blog, but I'm hoping to share a few different hobbies and favorites of mine with anyone who is interested.  The first novel I fi...

China Glaze Spring 2015 Road Trip Collection | 30 Days of Untrieds Challenge

Image
Hey guys! If you follow me on Instagram ( @lacqueredloves ), you'll have noticed that for the month of June, I decided to join the 30 Days of Untrieds Challenge created by Amanda from @secretlifeofnails and Jennifer from @the_polished_pineapple . It's really a fantastic concept. As nail polish collectors, we tend to get stuck in the rut of buying tons of polish, but forget to actually wear them. So, as I was sifting through my collection the other night to see which polishes I was going to include, I realized I had quite a few polishes that belonged to the same collections. I thought to myself: why not swatch the polishes that belong to the same collections as one entry, but make a blog post about them?! This way, I can fit even more polishes into my challenge and also create blog post content that isn't redundant. So, here we are! My entry for Day Four will be three polishes from the China Glaze Spring 2015 Road Trip collection that have been sitting patiently waiting for...

Mending a Broken Nail | Tea Bag Patch

Image
A couple weeks ago I mentioned that I had broken a nail and a few of you wanted to see a tutorial. Usually my nails are strong, but I made the huge mistake of buffing them a little bit too much. I had this idea that the smoother they are, the easier it would be to paint them. However, this weakened my nails very badly. Heed my warning (and the warnings of basically everyone on the internet)! Not a good idea, no matter how strong you think your natural nails are. I was frantic thinking of ways to keep my poor nail intact (at the moment I was using a band-aid to keep in from getting worse) when I remembered the tea bag patch method! I've tried this method before, but I got very different results. If I remember correctly, the first time I tried it, I used nail glue. It was pretty bad. However, there are countless articles and blog posts on the Internet if you do a quick Google search. This time around nail glue was not suggested and the results were superb.  The method is relati...

A Little Life Update: Where Have I Been?

Image
It's been quite a while since I sat down to do a blog post. I promised myself I was going to publish at least one blog post a week and I quite quickly realized I was not in the mental capacity to do so. I've found that I do enjoy blogging and keeping up with my Instagram, however, my health rapidly became an issue and I couldn't keep up. If you remember back in August I'd mentioned having been struggling with severe carpal tunnel. I was unable to use my left hand to its' full potential and, being left handed, that took quite the toll on me. As my luck would have it, severe carpal tunnel eventually morphed into some strange numbing, tingling, and stiffening of the entire left side of my body - legs, side, arm, and neck. I was extremely scared and extremely worried about what was happening. I went to my primary doctor and he referred me to a neurologist. I was scared shitless. The neurologist ordered an MRI and a few tests to be done in his office concerning my n...

Nine Zero Lacquer Halloween 2016

Image
Hey guys! So I've been wanting to publish blog posts more often and I figured once a week sounded doable for me. From here on out, there shall be new blog posts up every Sunday! Here's hoping I manage to stick to this schedule, but I think I'll be able to manage. Anyways, today I have an exciting collection for you! I've swatched Nine Zero Lacquer's Halloween 2016 Collection. If you want to see these polishes and know what I think about them, keep on reading!! Nine Zero Lacquer is an indie brand by the lovely Jessface90. As a fan of her's, it was only natural for me to eventually try her brand and, I must say, I'm impressed. With that being said, on to the swatches! First up we have, Tricks No Treats - my personal favorite from this collection! The white crelly base is fresh and stark against the bright orange, green, and purple metallic shredded glitter scattered within. Here I have three coats plus one coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat. ...

NOTD: KBShimmer Be Scareful

Image
Hey guys! I'm so excited that October is finally here. Halloween is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays and this year I hope to get in as many Halloween inspired manicures as I possibly can! Of course I'll be sharing them all with you lovelies, and I hope to see some amazing nail art from all of you as well. To kick off the month, I chose to do KBShimmer Be Scareful from last year's Fall collection. If you want to find out more about this polish, keep on reading! Be Scareful is a white crelly base packed full of black and orange glitters. There are small hexes, larger hexes, circles, triangles, and even stars, which were harder to get onto the nail. You'd probably have to do some fishing if you really want them. This polish also glows in the dark, which was quite the surprise from me! I really had no idea until I went to bed last night. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a decent photo of this glow-in-the-dark awesomeness.  The formula is a tad she...

Top Five Fall Favorites

Image
Hey guys!! So sorry for the lack of posts lately. School started up for me again a couple of weeks ago and I'm still getting used to the schedule. And not only that, I also had a severe case of carpal tunnel just as school was starting; my left-hand was basically useless to me up until this past weekend. Yikes. Luckily I've healed up well enough to be able to bring to you my top five favorite nail polishes for the fall. I cannot tell you how excited I am for this time of year! Granted, there isn't much of a seasonal change in South Florida, but it does get less humid and sticky and if that isn't a reason to rejoice, I don't know what is! So if you'd like to find out more about my favorite nail polish for this time of year keep on reading! First up we have Butter London Shag. I must say Butter London isn't a brand that I've mentioned often, but for a very long time it was my favorite. Their formulas are usually very smooth and easy to apply and they ...
